The Savannah (GA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, will host the 15th Annual New Beginning Art Exhibition beginning Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, at the S.P.A.C.E. Gallery, 9 West Henry Street.
The juried artwork of talented middle and high school students will be shown at an opening reception at 6:30 p.m. at the gallery, where winners will be announced. The winning students’ work will be reviewed for best capturing the 2016 Black Heritage Festival theme, “Reflections of a Proud Legacy.” The Links chapter has partnered with the Savannah Black Heritage Festival and the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System.
“The New Beginning
Art Exhibition is an important event for the Savannah community because it affords middle and high school students an opportunity to demonstrate their creativity around a central theme,” said Savannah (GA) Links Chapter President Beverly Hall.
The students will be “recognized for their unique talents and showcase the juried works for family, friends and the community,” Hall said.
The exhibit continues through Feb. 26, after which the winning pieces and other outstanding artwork from the display will be moved to the Savannah/ Hilton Head International Airport Art Gallery.
In addition to the Black Heritage Festival, other partners for New Beginning include the Savannah Chatham County Public School System and the City of Savannah Department of Cultural Affairs. The program is supported in part by the Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) through appropriations of the Georgia General Assembly.
The gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information about the exhibit location, contact S.P.A.C.E. Gallery at (912) 651-6417 or www.savannahga.gov/arts.
