Savannah Center for Blind & Low Vision Board Welcomes New Member

The Savannah Center for Blind and Low Vision welcomes Carol Abercrombie as its newest member of the Board of Directors. She was born in Connecticut and raised in Columbia, South Carolina.

Abercrombie received her BS degree in Marine Science from the University of South Carolina and a MS degree in Environmental Engineering from Clemson University. She’s lived in the Savannah area for more than 35 years and has worked with the Corps of Engineers as an Engineer for over 33 years in the field of coastal engineering, navigation, and water resources projects, including Project Engineer for the Savannah Harbor Expansion. She has received numerous awards for civilian service as well as the Connelly Award for Engineering Excellence in the Savannah engineering community.

Carol and her husband Stephen own Coastal Carolina Trailers and Ace Hardware in Hardeeville, South Carolina. They have three children and two grandchildren. Carol is an active member of Trinity Methodist Church, where she pursues her passion working with children and reaching out to the marginalized through the church’s homeless mission.
