On Sunday, January 26, at 4 pm, the Savannah Branch NAACP will hold its Mass Meeting at St. Paul CME Church located at 1601 Barnard Street.
For the first Mass Meeting of the year, Savannah Police Chief Roy Minter will address the NAACP and the public at large with his crime update and to speak about policing goals and objectives for 2020.
There will also be a census presentation given by regional and local staff, including representation from the Hispanic Community, and the Complete Count Committee at this Mass Meeting to educate the public about the impor tance of the census and the need to ensure an accurate account. The census will determine congressional and local representation, and this information will be used to draw new Congressional, Legislative and local district lines, such as County Commission, School Board and City Council. Population totals also determine amounts of federal dollars to communities. In 2020, and for the first time, the census will be online.
The meeting is open to the public. For more information, call the NAACP office at 912-233- 4161 or visit www.savnaacp.com.
