Savannah Branch NAACP to hold Commemorative Memorial Service



The Savannah Branch NAACP will hold a 45th Anniversary commemorative memorial service dedicated to the four young girls martyred in the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, Alabama. It was a racially motivated terrorist act that took place on Sunday morning September 15, 1963. The memorial service will be held at St. Philip Monumental A.M.E. Church, 1112 Jefferson Street & West Park Avenue, 4:00 p.m.

Rev. George A. Moore, Jr. pastor, will deliver the memorial address The purpose of this commemorative service is to express to the citizens of Savannah the urgency of exercising their right to vote, which was an important part of the Civil Rights Movement and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Please show your support and respect for the work and efforts of the NAACP in your community and the four young martyrs by attending this service.
