SAVANNAH BEAUTY CULTURALISTS’ LEAGUE 50TH ANNIVERSARY


The Savannah Beauty Culturalists’ League will celebrate their 50th anniversary March 24 25, 2012. Noted hair and barber stylists will showcase their businesses in the hair/fashion show on Saturday, March 24, 2012, 9:OOPM to 1:OOAM, at the Savannah International Longshoreman’s Association Hall, 221 N.E. Lathrop Avenue. Attire is semi formal. A $25.00 fee qualifies two models to be showcased in the hair/fashion show. Deadline for entries is March 15,2012. A dance will follow the hair/fashion showcase. We promise you an evening of enchantment and of a touch of class. He League will worship at the Tremont Temple Baptist Church, 1100 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the 10:OOAM service. The National Beauty Culturalists’ League, Inc. was founded in 1919 in Washington, DC. Regional and local chapters were organized. Theta Nu Sigma National Sorority is a division of The National Beauty Culturalists’ League, Inc. It comprises a sorority and fraternity of stylists. The National Institute of Cosmetology, a school offering bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees in cosmetology, is also a division of the national organization. It provides cosmetologist an opportunity to update and upgrade their vocational skills, as well as, inspire students toward continuing education. Plans for the first institute were made in 1943 in St. Louis, MO. The Savannah Chapter was organized in 1962 by Mrs. Mary Moore.
