Savannah Author Publishes First Children’s Book

Savannah native and children’s book author, Niyoka Meishan Dixon- McCoy, has published her first book entitled, My Father And Me.

Niyoka, the daughter of Curtis and Lelia Dixon of Savannah, is a creative writing guru. She is a graduate of Savannah High School and Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, and received her Master of Arts in Teaching from Mercer University, Atlanta, Georgia in 2007. She is presently working on her doctorate in Education.

Niyoka, an English teacher by profession, has a passion for bringing stories to life in a way that will encourage and educate her students. She understands that children must sometimes deal with difficult issues that may impair their physical and mental capacity. In “The Smile Series”, Niyoka uses humor and age appropriate vocabulary to tackle some tough issues, leaving her young readers with an understanding of the situation, all the while giving them the confidence to make it through.

Niyoka plans to continue to uplift the hopes and spirits of children through her writing.
