Savannah Association for the Blind, Inc. Names Board Room for Dr. J. Alphonso Dandy

On Thursday, February 24, The Board of Directors of Savannah Association for the Blind, Inc. held a surprise ceremony in which it was announced that the Association Board Room wold be named in honor of Dr. J. Alphonso Dandy.

The board voted to name the Board Room in honor of Dandy, Immediate Past Board President and Immediate Past Interim Executive Director.

He is a retired Optometrist, who is visually impaired himself. His sons, Ronald and Russell Dandy moved home and took over his practice when his sight declined a few years ago.

The Boardroom is now officially named the Dr. J. Alphonso Dandy Boardroom. It did not have a name prior to this.

This celebrates and recognizes of Dr. Dandy’s exceptional leadership, dedication, commitment, and financial support to the blind and visually impaired.

He has served as a member of the Board of Directors for eleven years; President of the Board of Directors for three years; and Interim Executive Director for two years.
