Savannah Arts Academy Choir Makes History in Savannah

The Georgia Music Educators Association is the state-level professional association for music teachers, collegiate professionals, and church musicians. Each year, GMEA allows music ensembles to apply for concert sessions as part of the annual in-service conference. After juried evaluation in 2019, Savannah Arts Academy Cantabile accepted the 2020 invitation, making history as the first school in SCCPSS (Savannah Chatham County Public Schools) to perform a solo concert at GMEA.

Savannah Arts Academy Cantabile, under the direction of Dr. Jared Register, is the 11th/12th grade treble choir at Savannah Arts Academy. The choir recently took first place at the Georgia Southern

Choral Invitational Competition 2019 in addition to performing numerous concerts on-campus and touring internationally.

Since the GMEA event takes place in Athens, Georgia, the choir formally invites the community for a preview concert of their conference program on Thursday, January 16, 2020, 7:00 in the evening, First Presbyterian Church – Savannah (520 Washington Avenue).

A suggested donation of $10 will help offset travel costs to and from the event. Cash/Check/Debit/ Credit accepted.
