Savannah Adult Day Care: Assuring Those in Need are Cared For


 
 

The Savannah Adult Day Care Program, located in the Senior Citizens Building, 3025 Bull St. is the oldest facility of its kind in Georgia. They serve frail seniors 60 years and older. Open Monday through Friday, breakfast, a hot meal at lunch is provided by City of Savannah Senior Citizens, Inc.

The daily activities are designed to stimulate social skills and to delay institutionalization. Daily activities include devotion, wellness and fitness exercises and arts and crafts. Field trips are also made available. They recently attended a field trip and tour of the Ralph Mark Gilbert Museum.

 
 
This trip stimulated memories of the civil rights era in Savannah.

Robin Mervin serves as Program Coordinator. Archie Heggs is the Program Manager. Rose Phillips, Sandra Early and Patricia Dupont are Leisure Services Recreation Leaders.

The upcoming events are as follows: Easter Program including an Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Friday, April 22, 2011.

Old American Day will be held at the Savannah Civic Center on Thursday, May 12, 2011. A Mother’s Day Salute and Hat Show will be held on Friday, May 20, 2011.
