Savannahians prepare for the 4th Annual Rock-n-Roll Marathon as it returns on Saturday and Sunday, November 8-9 2014 as a 2-day event. The route will showcase Savannah State University’s campus and the Historic downtown Savannah. The year’s event is focused on raising money for charities and encouraging people to exercise in an environment filled with fun and music. An expected 17,000 runners from the city and surrounding areas are preparing to take the streets of Savannah.
This year’s events include: Saturday, November 8, 2014; Marathon, 1/2 Marathon, 2 Person Half Marathon RelayStart Time: 7:00 am; Start Line: Bay Street & Bull Street; Finish Line: Forsyth Park
Sunday, November 9, 2014 5k & 1 mile, 5k Start Time: 1:00 pm; 1 Mile Start Time: 2:30 pm. Start/ Finish Line: Daffin Park
This event brings several road closures and detours for Savannah residents and a lot of work for Chatham-County police officers who have to clear all cars from the 26 miles of road that will be used for the full marathon plus additional roads that will be used for the 13 mile run that will take place before the official race begin.
