Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Marathon Returns


 
 

Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Marathon & ½ Marathon unveiled new course changes for the 2016 event. The updated course will feature more of downtown Savannah’s historic and charming town squares, a redesigned section through the Gordonston neighborhood, parks and more. Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah returns the weekend of November 5 – 6, 2016.

The marathon, half-marathon and two-person half marathon relay will start downtown at the intersection of Bay Street and Bull Street adjacent to Savannah City Hall. Participants will once again experience true Southern charm as they run past historic town squares. In true Rock ‘n’ Roll fashion, 25 live bands interspersed with enthusiastic cheerleaders and themed water stations will line the race route, concluding with a celebratory finish line festival and post race Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series headlined by Old Crow Medicine Show at Forsyth Park.

The event will once again feature two-days of running with the marathon, half-marathon and relay on Saturday, November 5 at 7:45 am and the Rock ‘n’ Roll 5K and One Mile run on Sunday, November 6 at 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm, respectively. Participants can automatically qualify for the “Remix Challenge” by running any distance Saturday and the 5K or One Mile on Sunday and earn the coveted Remix Challenge medal in addition to each race’s finisher medals. The 5K and One Mile races take place in Daffin Park.

Race weekend kicks off with a free Health & Fitness Expo, where exhibitors will offer free nutritional samples, showcase the latest in running gear, sports apparel and much more. This year the Expo will have extended hours to accommodate with local traffic in the area. The Expo takes place at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center on Thursday, November 3, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Friday, November 4, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. The Expo is free and open to the public.
