The musically themed Rock ‘n’ Roll® Savannah Marathon & ½ Marathon, known for Bringing the Fun to the Run™, returned to the Hostess City for its ninth year as it welcomed more than 11,000 registered participants from age 12 to 81 to the streets of the charming city of Savannah. With a continued focus on great music within the Savannah community, participants of all athletic levels enjoyed the sights and sound in the oldest city in Georgia. Closing out Saturday’s events was indie-rock band The Strumbellas, celebrating the day’s accomplishments with their headline concert at the Finish Line Festival at Forsyth Park. The weekend of racing continued Sunday, Nov. 3, when race participants took on the Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah 1-mile, the 5K presented by Brooks, followed by the Smart Company Kids KiDS ROCK at Daffin Park, one of the two largest recreational parks in the historic district. Participants on Sunday were able to take on the Sweet Georgia Pie Challenge by competing in both the 1-mile and 5K presented by Brooks events; participants received a personal-sized Sweet Georgia Pie thanks to the Pie Society.
