Dr. Gertrude Robinson, veteran educator and Savannah native announced her intentions to run for School Board District 3 representative on April 24, 2012 at 11:00a.m. in front of the Board of Education. Dr. Robinson is a lifelong resident of Savannah. She was educated in the local public school system and received B.A. and M.B.A. degrees from Savannah State University. She has also received an Ed.D from South Carolina State University and a Ph.D. in Divinity and a D.M. in Christian Counseling from Jacksonville Theological Seminary.
Dr. Robinson worked for the Savannah Chatham County Public School System for 17 years as a classroom teacher and an administrator in both the middle and high school settings. Prior to joining the school system she was a procurement officer at GAF and Fort Howard corporations. She is a member the ministerial staff of the Pentecostal Miracles of Deliverance Centers Inc., under the leadership of Dr. Idell W. Cheever,.the National Christian Counselors Association, the Volunteer Chaplain Group of Memorial Medical University and the Chatham Association of Retired Teachers.
Her priorities when elected will be : to insure that the facilities we build and the curriculum’s that we provide actually improve our children’s capacity to produce (and profit) at a high level, among others.
Dr. Robinson is married to retired businessman Ned Williams. They have six adult children.
Dr. Robinson will hold a “Meet and Greet” on Thursday, May 3, 2012 in the University Village Recreation Room on the campus of Savannah State University from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
