Richmond Hill to Participate in Georgia Municipal Association’s 2017 Mayors’ Christmas Motorcade

The city of Richmond Hill, Ga. is pleased to announce its participation in the Georgia Municipal Association’s (GMA’s) 2017 Mayors’ Christmas Motorcade, a program that provides holiday gifts for Georgia hospital patients with developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs.

“For nearly six decades, this program has been instrumental in providing gifts for the patients of Georgia’s seven regional behavioral health hospitals,” said Richmond Hill Mayor Harold Fowler. “Without the Mayors’ Motorcade, many of them would not receive a gift for the holidays. I am truly honored to be a part of this program and am looking forward to bringing some holiday cheer and hope to the clients of these facilities.”

The program, begun in 1958 by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) in cooperation with Governor Ernest Vandiver and his wife Betty Vandiver, relies on citizen participation in each city to donate gifts for the patients. The city of Richmond Hill is asking city employees and citizens to donate much-needed personal care items and other gifts for the patients at the Georgia Regional Hospital in Savannah.

Donated items can be delivered to Richmond Hill Police Department (20 Richard Davis Dr, Richmond Hill, GA 31324) and Fire Department Station 1 (9954 Ford Ave, Richmond Hill, GA 31324) from now until December 5. Civic organizations, businesses, churches, schools, scout troops and individual citizens are encouraged to help with the collection of gifts for the Mayors’ Christmas Motorcade.
