Remembering Mary Annette Houston

 
 

Mary Annette Houston, beloved sister of District 3 School Board Member Connie Hall, died on Sunday evening, March 26, 2017, after a brief illness.

Annette was born in Bronxville, NY, July 13, 1948 to the late Rev. Charles and Mary Patterson Houston of Tuckahoe, NY and Hilton Head Island, SC.

A resident of Baltimore, MD, Annette was the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program Coordinator at Johns Hopkins Medical center for over forty years until her retirement in 2012. An outstanding vocalist and concert pianist, Annette traveled the world on tour with her Heritage Choir and also served as Musical Assistant at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Baltimore. She especially loved visiting Savannah and taking her daily three mile walk from Connie’s home through the town of Thunderbolt and Savannah State’s campus. She leaves to mourn her passing, in addition to her sister, Connie,(John), another devoted sister, Jeanne A. Houston of Savannah. GA; a brother, Charles E Houston, Jr.; nieces Traci Houston Jones, Alexandria Wright, Nicole Callahan,(JaMell); nephews J.D. Houston and Maurice Wright, Jr., dear sisters-in-law Innocencia Houston and Dr. Gwendolyn Todd Houston; several treasured cousins and a beloved goddaughter, Tia Harris-Davis. Following a memorial service next week in Baltimore, MD for colleagues and friends, a family memorial service will be held at First African Baptist Church 402 Treat Ave, Savannah, GA 31404 (East Savannah) in April (date to be announced).
