SAVANNAH PARKINSON SUPPORT GROUP will meet Oct. 2, 2008, 5 PM, at Marsh Auditorium, Candler Hospital, 5353 Reynolds St., at DeRenne Avenue in Savannah Ga. Speaking will be Kate Calhoun, RD, Licensed Dietician and Nutritionist who will speak on the effects of diet on Parkinson’s medications and your general health. Mission Suspends Donation Pick Ups

Rev. Jim Lewis (Executive Director) announces, “Due to the spike in fuel costs, the Mission is temporarily suspending donation pick ups. We encourage delivery of donations to the Mission at 2414 Bull Street.” Call 232- 1979 for more information. Old Savannah City Mission is a privately funded, local 501(c)(3). In 2007 the Mission provided over 122,000 meals and more than 27,000 emergency shelter beds without a dime of government funding and never charges for its services.

Alzheimer’s Addociation Caregiver Support Group

“Dealing with Loss, Guilt, Grief While Protecting Your Own Health” is the proposed topic for discussion at the Monday, October 6, Alzheimer’s Association caregiver support group meeting from 10:30 to 12:00 noon at Skidaway Island United Methodist Church, 54 Diamond Causeway, Savannah. Families dealing with this degenerative brain disease; which causes memory loss, disorientation to time and place, mood variations and communication difficulties, are encouraged to attend this caregiver led support group. Coastal Pet Rescue Presents First Yappy Hour Blue Jeans Ball

This November, Coastal Pet Rescue has something to yap about. Join the non-profit animal rescue group for an evening of dancing and tasty treat at the innaugural Yappy Hour Blue Jeans Ball on Saturday, November 15, 2008 from 7 pm to 11 pm at the American Legion Post on Tybee Island. The event is also a silent auction, featuring signed items from “Mutts” creator Patrick McDonnell and George Rodrigue, gift baskets from Nylabone and Halopets among others, and framed prints from Ron Burns as well many fabulous other items for you and your canine and feline friends. WJCL’s “Good Morning” anchor Jessica Kiss will emcee the evening’s event with renowned radio personality Jeff Taylor as disc jockey. Admission is $25 per person with a cash bar available. Volunteers wanted!!

There will be a fun social welcoming all volunteers to Skidaway Island State Park on Saturday, September 27, 2008 from 6pm-7pm. Current needs include volunteers for the haunted trail, and other events at the Falloween Festival on October 25 as well as volunteers for general needs around the park. Trip to Orlando

The Senior Usher’s Ministry of St. Paul CME Church, along with Garden City Tours is sponsoring a trip to Orlando, FL October 11-12, 2008.
