Prince Hall M. B. Association Hosts Warren Jones Jr. Gala Affair

The Prince Hall Masonic Building Association (MBA) will host its Annual Warren Jones Jr. Gala Affair on Saturday, July 31, 2010. The Gala was named in honor of Past Master Warren Jones Jr. who is a Past Master of Hilton Lodge #2. Past Master Jones has served untiringly throughout the Masonic Order and is currently serving as President of the MBA.

This spectacular event will be held in the Prince Hall Masonic Ballroom located at 602 East Broad Street. For your enjoyment a Wine and Cheese Reception will begin promptly at 6:00pm, followed by a Silent Auction at 6:30pm. The Gala will begin at 7:00pm.

The speaker for the Gala will be Mrs. Rochelle Denise Small-Toney who began as Assistant City Manager for the City of Savannah on July 9, 2007. Mrs. Small-Toney serves as chief of the Public Development Bureau, which oversees eleven departments focused on neighborhood livability, affordable housing, poverty eradication, enforcement of zoning, development, and property maintenance codes, designing infrastructure improvements, neighborhood planning, property acquisition, economic development, and small business loans.

Ms. Small-Toney has served as Assistant City Manager of Charlottesville, Virginia and Danville, Virginia and in budget management and personnel analysts positions in Wilmington, North Carolina prior to her appointments in Virginia. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1978 and 1981 respectively.

She is a graduate of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators Executive Leadership Institute, and the Senior Executive Institute of the Weldon Cooper Center at the University of Virginia.

Mrs. Small-Toney’s professional memberships include ICMA, the Savannah Chapter of the National Forum of Black Public Administrators, and the Georgia Municipal Association, and the Georgia City-County Management Association. She was elected to the national board of directors of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators in April 2010.

Mrs. Small-Toney enjoys reading, African American history and research, and golfing. She is a Life Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and the Savannah Chapter of Links, Inc. She serves on the Board of Directors of BRAVO Music Company, Inc. She is a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

Mrs. Toney is married to Leroy Toney, Sr., the mother of two children, Rosalind and Leroy Jr., and the grandmother of Isaiah and Josiah Toney.

The Gala dance will commence immediately following the banquet. Music will be provided by DJ Five Star Music General. Tickets for the Gala are available for purchase from any Gala Committee member or from members of the Lodges and Chapters that comprise the MBA.

Committee members are Sister Tiffany Maxwell, District Matron Eddie Lee Marsh, Past Matron Jenean Turner, Sister Nantel Henry, Past Master Larry Jackson, Past Master Maznyl Newsome, Past Master Arthur Jackson or Past Master Warren Jones Jr.

The MBA is also sponsoring a five day four night cruise for two to the Bahamas from October 7 thru October 11, 2010. The Gala and the Cruise are both open to the public
