Chatham County Sheriff’s Office will once again team up with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Chatham-Savannah Narcotics Team to help get unwanted and expired prescription drugs out of the homes of our citizens.
Sheriff Al St Lawrence urges everyone to look in their medicine cabinets and bring their unused and expired pills to one of four drop locations across Chatham County on Saturday, April 27th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Last year the Sheriff’s Office, DEA and CNT helped to collect hundreds of pills and prescription medications in Chatham County.
The non-Medical use of prescription drugs ranks 2nd only to marijuana as the most popular drug in the United States. Studies show 6 of the top 10 substances abused by 12th graders were prescription and over the counter medications.
