It’s the 1st Annual Labor Day Weekend Concert featuring Fantasia, Anthony Hamilton and Lyfe Jennings to be held on Thursday evening, September 3, 2015 in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Arena at the Savannah Civic Center. Doors open at 7pm. The host will be Comedian “Big E” (Eric Wilkins).
Fantasia Barrino may have won the third season of American Idol with “I Believe,” but it was her passionate take on George Gershwin’s “Summertime” that had everyone talking for weeks.
Born and raised in High Point, North Carolina, Barrino fell in love with music through the recordings of Monica, Brandy, Aretha Franklin, P!nk, and — in keeping with her diversity — Aerosmith.
Barrino made history when she became the first artist ever to debut at number one with her first single, “I Believe” — written by Idol alum Tamyra Gray.
Anthony Cornelius Hamilton (born January 28, 1971, Charlotte, North Carolina. He is an American R&B singer-songwriter, and record producer who rose to fame with his platinum-selling second studio album Comin’ from Where I’m From (2003), which featured the title track single “Comin’ from Where I’m From” and the follow-up “Charlene”.
Not that he’d wish it on anyone, but it was during his ten-year sentence in prison that Lyfe Jennings developed his honest sound, thanks to isolation and Erykah Badu.
His musical aspirations started in the church choir and grew up in the Dotsons, a teenage group that Lyfe formed with his brother and a couple cousins.
