Poetry Society Kicks Off 2008-2009 Series



The Poetry Society of Georgia will begin its 2008- 2009 poetry reading series on October 21, 2008. The series is co-sponsored by Southern Poetry Review and Armstrong Atlantic State University’s Department of Language, Literature and Philosophy. All readings will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Books on Bay Street, 224 Bay Street.

The series will commence on Oct. 21 with Katie Chapel, co-editor of Terminus, a magazine of the arts, and professor at University of Georgia. Chapel’s poems have appeared in many academic journals such as The Antioch, Belleview Literary Review and Washington Square.

Other poets scheduled to present their works are Lucinda Grey, Nov. 18, Bonnie Emerick, Jan. 20, Judith Ortiz-Cofer, Feb. 2, Erica Dawson, Feb. 17, Melanie Almeder, March 19, and Joseph Harrison, April 21.
