Omar Temple No. 21 Shriners and Omar Court No. 91 Daughters of Isis held their Annual Potentate and Commandress Charity Ball, Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the Savannah Civic Center Ballroom with nearly 400 attendees for the formal event. The Ball celebrated the accomplishments of the Temple and Court community service involvement under the leadership of the Illustrious Potentate Edward P. Russell and Illustrious Commandress
Dannette B. Johnson.
Proceeds from the Ball and other events held throughout the year will support the Shriners signature projects of the National Diabetes Initiatives, Shriners as Mentors and educational scholarships. They will aid Omar Court in their support of the NAACP, March of Dimes, Lucille Crawford Health Fair, college scholarships and local grass root charities.
The Ball also allowed both organizations to make a $1,200 donation during the event to Savannah Feed the Hungry and its founder Rev. Carl Gilliard. Savannah Feed the Hungry began operations in 2009 with a Thanksgiving Dinner for the homeless and working poor.
Omar Temple and Omar Court are proud to be able to sustain their national initiatives and provide support to local charities in the Coastal Empire.
