Estelle Mannion, President of Stellar Productions Advertising presented Cheryl Branch, Executive Director of Safe Shelter with a check of proceeds generated form the “Not Your Ordinary Fashion and Talent Show that was held Saturday, May 21.
The fashion show was a great success depicting fashions with a flare designed for a summer cruise; fashions were provided by Stein Mart in the Oglethorpe Mall. The models and talent who ranged in ages from mid-forties to ninety one (91) were stunning, superb and entertaining. The event was certainly not your ordinary fashion show when 91 year young Ms. Ocala Walker stole the show while dancing and dipping to Michael Jackson’s “Billy Jean.”
When Ms. Mannion got the idea to produce a fashion show she asked Gertrude (Trudy) McFarland if she wanted to help and her answer was yes. The vision was to have a fashion show that would be fun using seniors as models and talent.
Ms. Mannion and Mrs. McFarland got together and decided on a date; choose Crusader Community Center as the facility, asked ladies to model and share their talent, decided on Safe Shelter as beneficiary of proceeds, asked Stein Mart to provide fashions and solicited sponsors and gifts for door prizes.
Many thanks to Antioch Foot and Ankle Group and Hollingsworth Auto Service who were sponsors and suppliers of door prizes who were; Affordable Furniture, Home Depot, Lester’s Florist and On Time Fashions.
Ms. Mannion and Mrs. McFarland sincerely thank everyone who came, purchased ticket(s), supported and gave their blessings.
