Neighborhood Comics Hosts Grand Opening Block Party on Free Comic Book Day, May 4

On Saturday, May 4th, Neighborhood Comics will host a grand-opening block party on Free Comic Book Day, as the new retail comic book shop opens at 1205 Bull St in Savannah. Free comic books will be available while supplies last. There will be plenty to see and do as well, as costumed characters roam the block posing for pictures while epic pinball competitions are waged all day long. Purrvana will ink Henna tattoos, and professional comic book artist Tracy Yardley will offer free sketches. This grand-opening event is co-hosted with White Whale Craft Ales, who will have Star Wars themed beers on draft. Food options include Bowtie Barbecue Company’s food truck, street corn from Bull Street Taco, and coffee from Perc. Grab a bite and a brew, then peruse a Star Wars themed art show, featuring submissions from local artists. The grand opening party is happening all day, from 10 AM to 9 PM, with offerings for everyone from young comic fans, to student artists, to the young-at-heart.

“May 4th is the perfect day for our grand opening event,” said Lee Heidel, owner of Neighborhood Comics. The first Saturday in May is always Free Comic Book Day, when comic fans across the nation can get a free book from local shops. This year, Free Comic Book Day coincides with Star Wars Day on May 4th (may the fourth be with you…).
