NAACP to Reinstate Youth Council


Savannah Branch of the NAACP announces the reinstatement of the Youth Council. The president of the local chapter Mr. Al Scott has named Rev. James C. Jones as the Youth Works Committee chair.

We are seeking new youth members to assist in this process. Being in the new era of technology, we are ready for an innovative approach to strengthen our young people here in Savannah, Georgia.

Qualification for Membership: Youth ages 13-24 in the Savannah area or surrounding communities, attendance at meetings and events, membership fee of $10.00 yearly.

The mission of the NAACP Youth & College Division shall be to inform youth of the problems affecting African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities; to advance the economic, education, social and political status of African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities and their harmonious cooperation with other peoples; to stimulate an appreciation of the African Diaspora and other people of color’s contribution to civilization; and to develop an intelligent, militant effective youth leadership.

Youth, be ready to learn, earn, and burn for the community we live….
