NAACP Installs Officers and Executive Committee

The Savannah Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) held its Installation Service for President, Officers and Executive Committee on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. Officers include: President-Al Scott; Richard Shinhoster, First Vice President; Willie C. Macon, Second Vice President; Dr. Sandra McCord Best, Third Vice President; Lynette Hymes, Secretary; and Joe H. Lang, Treasurer.

A native Savannahian, Scott has served in the House, Senate, and in 1990 was appointed Labor Commissioner by then governor Zell Miller.

He was the first African American to hold the office.
