MUMC Cancer Institute Receives $2.5 Million Gift

Curtis and Elizabeth “We sincerely thank (Libba) Anderson made a generous $2.5 million donation to the cancer treatment facility that is named in their honor at Memorial University Medical Center.

The Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute (ACI) at Memorial University Medical Center will receive $500,000 annually over the next five years to continue to grow its clinical care and research services. Curt and Libba for their ongoing generosity and advocacy. They realize that world-class cancer care, combined with leading-edge research, results in extraordinary patient outcomes,” said Phillip Schaengold, J.D., MBA, Memorial Health president and CEO.

Curtis Anderson is a retired investment banker. He served in the U.S. Navy and then spent 19 years in the corporate and investment banking world.

They watched close friends leave the area to find the latest cancer treatments. Together, they vowed to do whatever they could to bring world-class cancer treatment to Savannah.
