The Men’s Fellowship at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church on Hilton Head Island will host its annual Men’s Day Program at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27 at the church on 382 Squire Pope Road. The theme for the program is “Men of Great Faith Walking in the Light Together.”
Rev. Alandus Sims, associate pastor of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Pine Hills in Orlando, Fl., will be the guest speaker. Sims has a long family tradition in gospel ministry. He followed the footsteps of his grandfather, uncle and father into the ministry. Sims began preaching in 1993 at Fellowship Baptist Church, under the leadership of his father, Dr. Arthur D. Sims, Sr., and served as the church’s youth and children’s minister for five years. In 2005, he was ordained as the church’s youth pastor. He has also served as pastor of the St. James Baptist Church in Bushnell. Sims is a 1996 graduate of the University of Georgia, where he received a bachelor’s degree in English. He currently is working on his Master of Divinity degree from ITC at Morehouse School of Religion in Atlanta, Ga.
“Our Men’s Day program is an opportunity for us to celebrate our work and understand our role as Christian men in both church and community,” said Anthony Grant, chairman of the Mt. Calvary Men’s Fellowship. The program is open to the public.
