On Wednesday, January 9th, 2013 Carl A. Miller was sworn in as the newest Commissioner for the Housing Authority of Savannah. The five-member commission was appointed by the Mayor and Aldermen to serve as the governing body for the Housing Authority of Savannah. Miller’s five-year appointment became effective upon being sworn in.
A Native of Savannah, Georgia, Carl A Miller is a 2003 graduate of Herschel V. Jenkins High School. He pursed his B.A. English Language and Literature at Savannah State University . Miller is an accomplished scholar and was named a 2011 Fellow Vanderbilt University’s Peabody School of Education and Professional Development. He was also selected to participate in the National Institute for Urban School Leaders at Harvard University
Active in community affairs Car Miller is a member of the Savannah Chapter of the NAACP, where he serves on the Executive Board and Education Committee Chairman, Rotary Club of Savannah-East, serving on the Executive Board and the Literacy Committee.
He also holds membership to the National Urban League, the Masonic Order (PHA Lewis Adams Lodge #6) and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Carl Miller also serves on the Board of Directors for the Savannah-Chatham Fair Housing Council and Keep Savannah Beautiful, and is a Graduate of Leadership Savannah. Miller is an active member of the Mount Hermon Baptist Church where he serves as a Deacon and Chorister for the Adult Choir.
