Memorial Health Launches New Intensive Outpatient Behavioral Health Program

Memorial Health now offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for behavioral health patients. The IOP provides comprehensive psychiatric care during the day and the patient returns home each afternoon. Sessions are conducted four days a week and a patient’s program usually is 2-4 weeks. “Our intensive outpatient program is designed for patients age 18 and older whose emotional health issues have impaired their daily functioning,” said Dr. Stephen Yost, medical director for Memorial Health Behavioral Health Services. “Patients who would be a good referral for the IOP include those who are dealing with issues like depression or mood disorders, anxiety, life trauma, relationship problems and grief or loss.”

The IOP program provides individual therapy and family education to help patients develop self-coping skills and return to their optimal level of functioning. Medication monitoring is an important component of each client’s plan. Each patient will work closely with the treatment team to develop an aftercare plan to help him or her achieve longterm goals post-treatment.

Referrals may be made by the client, psychiatrist, mental health professional, social service agencies or family members. Call (912) 350-5600.
