Former Savannah State baseball player Kyle McGowin was recently traded from the Los Angeles Angels to the Washington Nationals, in a three player deal.
The Nationals sent shortstop Danny Espinosa to the Angels organization for pitchers McGowin, and Austin Adams.
McGowin, 25, has appeared in 75 games over the past four seasons in the Angels’ minor league system, making 67 starts. He was ranked by MLB.com as the 20th-best prospect in Los Angeles’ system. The 6-foot-3 native of Southampton, New York has 375.2 innings pitched and posted a 20-30 record with a 4.77 ERA. In 2016, Mc- Gowin made 27 starts He started the season with the AA farm team in Arkansas before working his way up to the AAA farm team in Salt Lake City.
Los Angeles drafted McGowin in the fifthround in the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Savannah State.
