The City of Savannah will hold the final Town Hall Meeting of 2011 at 7 pm. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at the Savannah Civic Center. The event will mark the 32nd straight quarterly Town Hall Meeting, fulfilling a pledge Mayor Otis Johnson made after taking office in 2004.
Regular Town Hall meetings initiated by Mayor Johnson were a first for Savannah, as were public State of the City addresses, given during the first Town Hall Meeting each year. Over the past eight years, Town Hall Meetings have been used to launch a host of new initiatives, and to report back to the public how the City was doing on key priorities established by City Council.
Mayor Johnson plans to use the Oct. 26 Town Hall Meeting as an opportunity to reflect back on the past eight years. As always, citizens will have an opportunity to directly address their Savannah City Government.
