Martin Luther King, Jr. Observance Day Committee to hold Scholarship Program and Freedom Ball

The 2010 Annual Celebration of the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will conclude with the Scholarship Program and Freedom Ball on Saturday, March 27, 2010.

The venue for these events will be the new annex of the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum located at 410 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.

The MLK Scholarship Committee under the leadership of Chairlady Margaret J. Williams has selected 15 local graduation seniors to be honored as scholarship recipients.

These scholarships will be awarded during the Annual Scholarship Program on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

All local graduating seniors from public and private schools were invited to submit an essay in 500 words or less on the 2010 Celebration Themes and to complete an academic application.

The 2010 celebration of Dr. King’s birth and the and evening will conclude with the Annual Freedom Ball at 9:00 p.m. Music for the evening will be provided by Main Event DJ Services with C. Victor Cooper, Jr. The attire is semiformal, donation $25.00.

All friends, and supporters are invited to continue their support by purchasing a ticket, a table today or make a contribution to our scholarship fund.

Proceeds are used to support our annual scholarships and local non-profit organizations that we contribute to annually.
