Local Author Releases A Book With A Cause

Ikio Learns to Fish unfolds the Metacognition approach to learning.

Sonja R. Scott is an educator, motivational speaker, youth minister, and entrepreneur. Her children’s book Ikio Loves to Fish is geared towards helping students to understand that while it is true that everyone learns differently it is also true the everyone can learn. Sonja’s ultimate goal is to partner with schools, non- profits, and community groups in order to deliver book readings, metacognitive workshops, and fundraising opportunities.”

Scott hosted two signing parties this past weekend to kick off the 100th Celebration of National Book Week, April 29th – May 5th. “Children’s Book Week is the annual celebration of books for young people and the joy of reading” according to Every Child A Reader. Ikio Learns to Fish officially launched on April 27th, 2019. The launch included two book signings on April 27th: The YMCA in Rincon, GA and the Embassy Suites in Savannah, GA. The author was join by the illustrator of the book, Annatasia Magloire Williams, a graduate of Savannah College of Arts & Design. The attendees enjoyed great food, games, prizes and meeting the author and illustrator.
