Leukemia and Lymphoma Society hold Breakfast Kicks Off Light the Night Campaign

On Wednesday, June 10, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society held a corporate breakfast to kick off the society’s annual Light The Night Walk Campaign at the First City Club.

Among the many business leaders and supporters in attendance at the breakfast was the Stewart family.

Dae’Kyra, the youngest member of the family was an honored hero at the breakfast. “Kyra” was diagnosed with Lymphocytic Leukemia in January of 2008. She will celebrate her 6th birthday this summer and begins 1st grade this fall. Kyra has three older sister and an older brother, and enjoys picking flowers, princess stuff, and playing pretend.She is doing well on her maintenance treatments, but has another two years to complete.

Light the Night is the society’s annual fundraising walk to celebrate and commemorate lives that have been touched by cancer. Participants carry illuminated balloons along a two mile walk-white for survivors, red for supporters, and those carrying gold balloons due so in memory of those who have died from blood cancers.
