Savannah Graduates, a community-wide initiative focused on creating a more educated workforce in Savannah-Chatham County, announces the addition of Junior Achievement (JA) as a new partner.
The initiative, which launched in February 2014, has set a goal to increase the percentage of individuals with post secondary credentials from 38 percent to 48 percent- or 85,000 individuals – by 2025.
“I am thrilled to welcome Junior Achievement to our team,” states Savannah Graduates Executive Champion, Joe Buck. “They have a proven track record of empowering and preparing our young people for the future. “
Funded by Lumina Foundation, Savannah Graduates has buy in from leaders in the education, business, government and nonprofit sectors. Founding Savannah Graduates’ partner organizations include: Armstrong State University, Chatham County Government, City of Savannah/ Coastal Workforce Services, Coastal Georgia Indicators Coalition, Georgia Power, Gulfstream Aerospace, Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce, Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, Savannah Economic Development Authority, Savannah State University, Savannah Technical College, Step Up Savannah and the United Way of the Coastal Empire.
“Junior Achievement is honored to be a partner of Savannah Graduates,” states Vice President of Junior Achievement Statewide Operations Johnathon Barrett. “Savannah Graduates’ goal of graduating more people with high quality credentials and degrees will give our children the direction, assistance, support and access to important post-secondary opportunities, and thus help insure our goal that all students in the Savannah area own their economic success. It is a 100 percent win-win coalition, and we at JA are proud to be a part of these efforts.”
