Mayor Otis S. Johnson was elected in November 2003 and re-elected in November 2007 to become Savannah, Georgia’s 64th Mayor. Mayor Johnson is nationally known in the field of community building and youth development. He served as the 2009 Chair of the National League of Cities Council on Youth, Education, and Families and is a member of the boards of the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation, the Coastal Regional Commission of Georgia, Georgia Municipal Association and MDC.
Mayor Johnson was Executive Director of the Youth Futures Authority, an Annie E. Casey Foundation initiative, from 1988-1998. Mayor Johnson’s vision fits right in line with the Savannah Entrepreneurial Center (SEC) mission to provide the greater Savannah community with opportunities to start and grow small businesses.
Through comprehensive training, mentoring, technical assistance, facilities and access to financial resources, the Center contributes to the economic empowerment of individuals and the community.
Entrepreneurial development is one of the tools in the City of Savannah’s cache of programs for fighting poverty and strengthening our area’s economy.
By hosting this Awards Fundraiser Dinner, Good Service LLC’s goal is to focus Savannah’s community on the entrepreneurial successes and accomplishments that have benefited from the training and enhancement classes of the SEC and to raise funds to augment program delivery cost for 2011.
We are asking your support on behalf of the SEC in its continuing quest of economic inclusion. We are seeking community partners who are willing to demonstrate their commitment.
