On January 8, 2012, Gene Johnson was named Trustee of the Year at the St. Philip AME Church located at 613 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in Savannah, Georgia. Mr. Johnson has been a faithful member of St. Philip for nearly six years. He believes that good works come from faithful service and commitment. In his capacity as a trustee, he has supervised several projects that involved both the maintenance and the aesthetic upkeep of the church. “This award is especially gratifying,” said Mr. Johnson, “because the selection was determined by my peers on the Trustee Board.”

Mr. Johnson believes there is no better satisfaction than that of dutifully serving your God, your church and your community. He said, “serving is not a task, it is an honor.”
