The Brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated presented their Mardi Gras 2012 Contestants, last Friday at the Savannah Civic Center Arena.

This year’s contestants were Mary Merritt and Idell Biles. Idell Biles won the contest.

Idell Biles is a 1998 honor graduate of Amanda Elzy High School in Greenwood, Mississippi, where she was both a high school basketball and track standout.

She received both her Bachelor of Liberal Studies with a minor in Psychology Degree and her Masters of Arts in Teaching Special Education Degree from Armstrong Atlantic State University.

Her future educational goal is to pursue a Doctorate in Special Education.

Over 300 attendees dressed in Mardi Gras costums celebrated the annual event. The Silver Lady won for the female costume and the Mardi Gras King won for the male costume. A good time was had by all.
