On Saturday July 11, 2009, at 9:30 AM, The Hungry Club Forum of Savannah, Inc.(HCFS) will hear the preliminary reports of two of the communitywide study groups involved in an examination of Tavis Smiley’s The Covenant With Black America.
The presentations will be the featured offering of the HCFS’ monthly breakfast Roundtable and Open Forum, held in the Multipurpose Annex of the West Broad Street YMCA, located at 1110 May Street, near W. Gwinnett.
Mayor Otis S. Johnson, Chairman, and the Covenant III Study Group: “Correcting the System of Unequal Justice” and Dr. Mildred McClain, Chairman, and the Covenant IX Study Group: “Assuring Environmental Justice For All” will make presentations.
McClain, is Executive Director of Citizens for Environmental Justice, Inc., the Harambee House, Inc., and the Southern Association of Black Educators, Inc., in Savannah, GA.
The Harambee House is a community center which focuses on political, socio-economic and community empowerment.
The Hungry Club Forum is a non-profit, community oriented forum, open to the general public.
It is dedicated to providing quality educational, community development and cultural enrichment programs, and to bringing forth involvement and discussion of issues facing the community.
