Katrina Hughes was promoted to the rank of Police Lieutenant on April 2, 2010. Hughes began her law enforcement career in 1986 with the State of Georgia, Department of Transportation. A year later in 1987 she joined the Savannah Police Department. During her career with the Savannah Police Department, now the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department, Katrina has had the opportunity to be assigned to the Patrol Bureau, the Support Services Bureau, and the Criminal Investigations Bureau. While in Criminal Investigations she was assigned to the Violent Crimes Unit, Property Crimes Unit, and TRAP Unit. In 2001 Katrina was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. A year later she was selected to oversee sworn and civilian personnel in the combined Career Offender Tracking Unit [also known as COTU], Gang Unit and the Criminal Intelligence Unit. She is a senior Criminal Justice major at St. Leo University and will graduate this summer! Katrina graduated from Savannah Technical College with honors in the Master Cosmetology program in 1997. She was also inducted into the National Honor Society of Vocational Technical Institutes. Lt. Hughes also completed the Street Survival course at the FBI Academy in Quantico Virginia in 1993. She was a1980 graduate of Robert W. Groves High School. She is also the proud mother of two children, 17 year old daughter Kianni and 10 year old son, Keon.
