Recently I received this question from a reader, How can fasting improve or restore health?

Actually we did not have adequate time for a really comprehensive answer. So today I want to talk about how this ancient healing technique can help so many persons regain health. Fasting has been used for thousands of years to heal not only the body but also the spirit. Many find fasting a powerful way to accelerate health, and to lose the dependence on caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, salt, and sugar, and finding that simple foods taste great again. Fasting starts a potent healing process that can help us recover from many illnesses, from mild to severe, very quickly.

Research tells us that some of the most common and fast to respond to therapeutic fasting are: high blood pressure, asthma, allergies, chronic headaches, inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease), irritable bowel syndrome, adult onset diabetes, heart disease, degenerative arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, eczema, acne, uterine fibroids, benign tumors, and lupus.

Fasting provides a rest for the body allowing it’s self-healing mechanisms to work at repairing and strengthening damaged organs. This process of fasting allows the body to cleanse the cells of toxins and waste. Also, the digestive system gets a rest in order to strengthen the mucosal lining.

This is absolutely the quickest way to create a healthy digestive tract, which helps to protect the blood and inner organs from many internal and external toxins.
