Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club is the first chartered club in the state of Georgia. The organization has been around for 100 years and continues to expand throughout central and coastal Georgia.

Mark Lindsay, a former “Club Kid”, is now the Chief Executive Officer of the Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club as of April 2022.

Lindsay partnered with Jaime Tolsa, Home Depot Store #170 Victory Drive manager, after meeting in the garden department. Lindsay introduced himself and expressed the need for renovations within the club. After some planning, Home Depot granted the Boys and Girls Club $10,000 in reno- vations and labor.

“Anytime I get an opportunity to meet someone from the community, I’ll make a connection because truth be told, giving back is one of our values at the company”, says Tolsa.

Home Depot works to set aside funds specifically to give back to the communities. This allows the company to create grants for local organizations after evaluating the location and to accept more opportunities to improve the community.

The Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club is a place where children within the community can go outside of school hours and learn social skills, writing and creative skills, and build professional development and self-awareness.

The organization has a ton of activities, camps, workshops, lectures, and more experiences for students that are a part of the club. The students who graduate from the program go on to higher education or the military.

“Last year we had 37 kids graduate from the program, 35 went on to secondary education and 2 went into the military – that’s 100%”, says CEO Mark Lindsay.

The organization benefits greatly from the local volunteers including students from Savannah State University with The Orange Project, former Club Kids, and other organizations throughout the community.

Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club will host its 3rd Annual Telethon and Online Auction live on Facebook and WJCL 22 from 9 AM to 8 PM, Friday, November 18th.
