Higgenbottom Receives The 2019 Rev. B. R. Mitchell, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

 
 

The recipient of the 2019 Rev. Bennie R. Mitchell, Jr. Memorial Scholarship is Nyhirah Higgenbottom.

Nyhirah is the daughter of Mr. Javetti and Mrs. Francina Higgenbottom and the sister of Javetti, Janori, Shanerial, Nykeem and Nesiah. She attended and graduated from Savannah Early College High School with a 3.6 GPA. She was dual enrolled at Savannah State University earning 45 transferrable credits. Nyhirah graduated with six cords (Honor Graduate, BETA Club, Memorial Medical Explorers, Business Pathway, Early Risers, Girl Scouts of America) and two stoles (Rebecca Padgett School of Performing Arts and National Society of High School Scholars). She was a member of several organizations including Girls Scouts of America, Memorial Medical Explore Post and Delta GEMS.

As Nyhirah prepares for her brilliant future, she will be attending Augusta University in Augusta, GA in the Fall of 2019 majoring in Nursing. Her career goal is to become a travel nurse and later pursue her credentials to become a nurse practitioner.

She is a member of Growing in Grace Ministries where she is a member of the DOVE Praise Team.

The Rev. Bennie R. Mitchell, Jr. Memorial Scholarship is presented annually to a graduating senior enrolled in a Chatham County Public School who exemplifies the values and ideals represented by Rev. Mitchell of showing service to others. Thus far, the scholarship has been awarded to seven students to help them, in their own way, keep Rev. Mitchell’s legacy alive.

Scholarship applications are available from the office of any Savannah Chatham County Public School System high school counselor.
