Junior guard Kenyata Hendrix and junior center Tiyonda Davis were named to the College Sports Madness Preseason All- Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Second Team.
Last season, Hendrix led the team in 3-point field goals made (48), 3-point field goal attempts (171) and 3-point field goal percentage (.281), which ranked 13th in the conference and was third on the team, scoring 280 points for an average of 9.0 points per game. The 48 3-pointers made ranks third in school history in a single season. She averaged making 1.5 3-pointers per game, which ranked eighth in the conference.
The Carrollton, Ga., native recorded 75 rebounds, for an average of 2.4 rebounds per game and shot .364 (102-280) from the field. She also recorded 41 steals and 39 assists.
Davis led the team in field goal percentage, shooting .544 (124-228) from the field, which ranked second in the MEAC, total rebounds with 244 for an average of 7.6 rebounds per game, which ranked sixth in the conference, and with 67 blocks for an average of 2.1 blocks per set, which ranked third in the conference.
Davis’ 67 blocked shots ranked third most in school history in a single season and has recorded 120 blocks in two seasons at SSU, which is the third most in school history since the 2001-02 season. Her .544 field goal percentage ranked seventh in school history for a single season.
The Athens, Ga., native scored 273 points for an average of 8.5 points per game and added 27 steals and 26 assists and played in all 32 games with 31 starts on the season. Davis recorded three double-doubles last season, including 10 points and a career-high 16 rebounds against Maryland Eastern Shore in the MEAC Championship game.
