How to Prevent Cancer

Ninety percent of all cancers are caused by our exposure to known carcinogens and hormone disrupting chemicals. In today’s world, we are exposed to thousands of toxic chemicals, thus the epidemic cases of cancer diagnoses in our culture.

So, what do we do? We do what we’ve always done. Wait for someone else to do something about it, hopefully before it knocks on our door. And In the meantime we pray that we will be spared.

Well, unfortunately, this course of non-action only leads to another diagnosis of cancer. Ninety percent of all cancer diagnoses leads to death within five years, sixty percent die within one year. Sadly, most cancer victims die from the treatment long before the cancer left alone, could cause death. However, that is another article.

Here are some things you can do, starting today to prevent cancer. This is by no means an exhaustive list and summary, but, if you are to prevent cancer for yourself and your family, there is no better beginning. To prevent is an action to intervene and to change. So, change will be necessary.

Drink lots of filtered water – filtering out the chlorine, fluoride and other chemicals. Drinking lots of water flushes toxins out of the body and reduces the risk of bladder cancer.

Eating more dark greens is easy if you plan to have more salads, more often. The magnesium works to affect cell division, in a good way. Eat more raw unsalted, unsweetened nuts for the nutrients, including the omega -3s. Brazil nuts are a great source of selenium protecting against lung and colon cancer.

Eat clean foods. This includes foods with no pesticides, artificial ingredients like sweeteners, colors, flavor enhancers and other chemicals. Read the ingredients, if you don’t know what it is, leave it. Choose organic as often as possible.

When selecting grains, choose 100 percent whole grains. Processed grains lead to colon cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Limit meat and animal fats and animal protein. There are countless studies which show the correlation between eating meat and several types of cancer, especially colon cancer.

Meats contain far more fat and chemicals than poultry. By reducing the amount of meat in your diet and replacing it with wild fish will reduce your risk of many types of cancer, and lower your cholesterol at the same time.

Limit the amount of alcohol you drink, avoid smoking, and second hand smoke, know what kinds of chemicals you are exposed to at work, and choose carefully the chemicals you bring into your home.

For as much a possible, purchase wash and wear clothing. The chemicals used to dry clean are known to be cancer causing. When you do have clothes dry cleaned, take off the plastic cover, let garment air outside for at least an hour, before bringing into the home.

Exercising as little as two hours each week cuts your risk of cancer by keeping the lymph system activated, and helps to burn fat which acts to upset the body’s estrogen balance, leading to breast cancer in men and women and to prostate cancer.

Minimize the use of cell phones at your head. Don’t use the wireless ear piece at all. Use a wired earpiece, texting, and the speaker features in your cellular communication. The radio waves are known to cause brain tumors.

Avoid unnecessary Xrays. The most common we are exposed to is the microwave, stop. Then there are the diagnostic x-rays, CT scans, PET scans, mammograms, chest x-rays, and dental x-rays. Be ware, these diagnostics along with certain dyes also cause cancer. Ask if an ultra sound could substitute. Always ask. Ask all the questions you want or need. Un satisfied?, ask for a second opinion, and do some research on your own. Utilize every opportunity to save your own life.
