Health Restoration 101 Change Into a New Year

The goal of this series of articles and the goal of the Health Restoration 101 programs are to help you maximize your chances of living a longer, healthier life. Our programs are simple, comprehensive, well documented and easy to follow.“ It’s not magic, but it can change your life.”

As we approach the new year, I can hear already the buzz about making changes for the new you. Why wait for the new year? Why not start today? Well, the answer today from a young man I was speaking with was “ because I’ve got to finish the sweets.” And then he continued, “Because I might as well finish the year like I started it.”

We always think there is some magic in Monday, tomorrow, or next month, or New Year’s Day. There is no magic day to start the change, or to take up the challenge. You know what you want to achieve, the time to start is now. Today. This is the day that the Lord hath made. This is the day to make your life be what you want it to be. Start today, wherever you are, wherever you are going, there is no better time or place to start than right where you are, now. Today.

You need a strategy! Set your goal, set yourself up for success, set up your reward system. This is a strategy that works in many areas of your life. Set your goal. So what do you want to achieve?, Write it out on paper. Spend some time thinking about it. Why do you want it, what will it do for you?, how will it add to your joy in life?, how will you feel when you achieve it?

Write it all out, your story. Then read it over and over and over until you can feel it, and see it and can live it, in your mind. Set yourself up for success, get the information you need to do it right, get a buddy. Getting the right information is critical. You can’t go anywhere with out a map, a plan.

Don’t go off halfcocked. Putting a system in place for your success ensures that you will more likely follow up with commitment. New habits set in quickly to support you, and makes the transition to your goal easy. Having a like minded buddy, to do it with makes for fun and challenge. Having a buddy solidifies the agreement. Remember, there is a blessing in agreement.

Find someone who is ready to commit to a change, and you can keep each other on task. I am a big fan of keeping a journal, it is wonderful for keeping track of the work you are doing, jogs your memory and is a great outline for where you are going, and great to see where you’ve come from.

Set up your reward system. For your success, you always want something to look forward to. This is the fun part. What is the best reward to indulge yourself?, Lunch or dinner at a new healthy spot, or maybe a beautiful new set of dinner plates for 2. A day trip, a book or magazine subscription, some new music, a new pair of shoes with bag to match – optional, a massage or a movie with your buddy, these are all on my rewards list, and are just a few examples to get you thinking.

Change takes us out of our comfort zone, allowing us to grow, stretch out into a healthier mind, body, thought pattern, and life just gets better and better. Whatever is your goal, strive to add exercise, deep breathing, relaxation, and more water to your routine.
