Keeping A Fine Mind

Could there be a correlation between brain function, lifestyle and food? Could it be that we can change something we’ve always done, to make a difference in our lives, health, even our out look? More and more we learn that One Change – Can Change Everything™.

The most important decision we make each day is around our choices of foods we eat, making the right choices here – is the beginning of all good things in our lives. These choices will feed the 100 billion neurons in the brain, and facilitate the 70, 000 thoughts we produce each day.

Then we can make other choices that ensure our overall physical and mental health.

So, here is your guide:

Eat wild-caught Fatty fish (salmon, tuna, mackerel, herring, trout, sardines) and the healthy fats in coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, avocados, and Nuts (almonds, peanuts, macadamia nuts, hazelnuts, pecans, cashews) are the choices I make.

Good proteins from cage free, hormone free chickens and eggs. Realize that animal proteins are not the best for us, and that we get more than enough good proteins from eating a wide array of fresh vegetables.

Eliminate sugar and white flour. This action alone can recharge your brain in only 5 to 8 days. Sugar, and processed bleached flour and all the products made from it, turns to sugar in the blood, and causes the blood sugar levels to rise and fall sharply, creating serious brain dysfunction.

Often too much sugar also causes dwindling mental capabilities, including cognitive problems, lapses in memory, the inability to process information, as well as difficulty recognizing spatial patterns, and can even lead to dementia and a higher incidence of Alzheimer’s disease.

Eating good carbs for the wonderful Phyto-nutrients, which are anti-inflammatory and helps blood flow to the brain, and other parts of the body, more easily. Enjoy more almonds, dark chocolate, avocados, beans, asparagus, yams, garlic, figs, chili peppers, celery, and bananas. Again, an array of seasonal fresh fruits and veggies will always do the body good!

Supplements are important because we simply cannot get all the nutrients we need from the foods we eat. Adding a good fish oil, vitamin D, the B-complex, probiotics, and a good Multi vitamin-multi mineral product to your daily routine is imperative.

Relaxation with mediation, fun, rest and massage are easy ways to relieve stress which is one of the main causes of diseases of the mind and body. Stress management plays a major role in healing. Adding fun social events with friends, such as dinners, movies, dancing, games, sports, and crafting get-togethers, are easy ways to connect as social beings, get things done and enjoy laughing while relieving the pressures of daily life.

Word games, learning something new, and exercise are great ways to eliminate depression, while helping to grow new brain cells. Our body’s cells are being renewed every second of every day. What these new cells grow from, and grow into, is solely up to us, by the choices we make day by day.

Detox from electro pollution such as electronic devices at the bedside, cell phones, micro-wave ovens and other common house hold devices.
