The Second Arnold Baptist Church family will celebrate the Harvest on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. When we think of Harvest, the months of September, October and November comes to mind. Is December an unusual time to celebrate the Harvest? The answer is “No”. Harvest is 12 months a year and December is no exception. Our theme for this year is “Fruit Bearing Believers”. The thematic scripture is taken from Luke 8:11-15. Our guest messenger will be Pastor George A. Moore, Jr. of St. Philip Monumental A.M.E. Church of Savannah, Georgia.
Rev. Moore earned his B.S. in Business Administration from Berry College in Rome, his M.R.E. in Christian Education from Turner Theological Seminary in Atlanta, and his M.TH. in Theology and D.D. in Humanities from Emmanuel Theological Seminary in Macon. Rev. Moore is the author of five books, including an upcoming book of inspirational sermons for Christian living.
Rev. Moore’s humanitarian work includes work as the chaplain of the Chatham Metro Police Department as well as service to the Youth Futures Authority and Interfaith Ministry in Savannah. His activism work includes organizing Rev. Jesse Jackson’s Unity March in Louisville in 2000, leading voter registration drives, and serving on the executive committee of the Billy Graham Crusade in 2001. Rev. Moore has three children, Tameika, Timothy and Kevin. He is also a proud grandfather to grandchildren Tatiana, Lauren and Christopher.
