On May 7, 2012 the Greater Savannah Athletic Hall of Fame banquet was held at the Civic Center.The inductees for 2012 were Lane Curlee (tennis), Larry Nunnally (football), Robbie White (football) and Wilson Scott (basketball).
Lane Curlee won the state Class Asingles championship in 1978 and the state Class A doubles championship in 1976 while at Savannah Country Day, and later played for the University of Georgia. Larry Nunnally was a threeyear starter at defensive tackle at Tompkins High School before going on to play on the University of Southern California’s 1974 national championship team.
Robbie White is one of the few athletes to capture both the Lawton M. Calhoun Award and the Ashley Dearing Award and led Savannah Christian to the SEAIS Class AAA state football championship in 1981. He went on to play for East Tennessee State University.
Wilson Scott Jr. averaged 14 points and eight rebounds as a junior to help propel A.E. Beach High School to the 1967 Class AAA state championship in the first year that schools for black students were allowed to compete in the Georgia High School Association tournament. He played in college at Kansas State University and Western Carolina University.
