Grant to help Savannahians Stay Out of Foreclosure

For homeowners at risk of losing their homes to foreclosure, new financial and legal counseling services are now available through area nonprofits at no cost to consumers.

Almost $475,000 in new public and private dollars are coming into the Savannah area this year and next to enable organizations to better respond to the crisis of home foreclosures and to ensure members of our community are learning how to preserve their assets.

Consumer Credit Counseling Services, Georgia Legal Services Program, Step Up Savannah, Inc., the United Way of the Coastal Empire, and the City of Savannah held a press conference on Friday at St. Mary’s Community Center to learn about financial education and counseling services available that will help those most in need to preserve their homes and resolve delinquencies in mortgage payments.
